Dear Member Criers,
We have great pleasure in attaching the current Guide To Taking Part in ‘Battle’s Over – A Nation’s Tribute 11th November 2018, being organised to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the end of WW1, along with paying a unique tribute to the many millions that died or returned home dreadfully wounded during, or after the War finished on 11th November 1918.
(The Guide will be updated every three months from 31st March 2018, through to 31st October 2018, and the Guide and events logo can be viewed and downloaded for your immediate use too, by going to – www.brunopeek.co.uk
You will see that the content of the Guide includes the history of Town Criers, along with a special ‘cry for peace around the world’, written by Brenda Willison, your Chairman.
Our overall aim is to involve 100 Town Criers undertaking this ‘cry’, one for each of the 100 year’s since hostilities ended, and would appreciate your support by taking part as follows.
(1) Choose a location of YOUR choice where you would like to undertake the ‘cry for peace around the world’ at 7.05pm on 11th November 2018.
(2) It is important to point out that the ‘cry’ does NOT have to take place at a World War 1 Beacon of Light location.
(3) Provide the following information to – firstname.lastname@example.org
asap please, or by no later than 31ST JULY 2018, to enable us to add your name to the list of acknowledgements, along with being able to send you further information nearer the time.
Name of Town Crier:
Location where you will be undertaking the ‘Cry’:
All Town Criers taking part will be able to download a special certificate from 30th November this year, as a permanent reminder of their involvement in this unique commemoration, and in OCTOBER 2018, will be sent an overall press release to enable them to localise it by outlining their involvement, before they send it to all areas of their local media, ensuring the media are aware of their involvement, and location of their ‘cry’ on 11th November 2018.
As I am sure you are aware, many Town Criers would have had to leave home and loved ones to fight on the Western Front, so your involvement in this event can also be seen as a special, personal tribute to them.
We do hope therefore, that you will take part in this event at 7.05pm on 11th November 2018, and look forward to hearing from you in due course.
My warmest regards,
Bruno Peek LVO OBE OPR

I do hope as many of you will join myself and others in this tribute
OYEZ OYEZ OYEZ
Town Criers raise your voices and together cry with me.
Remembering those brave men and women in our history
The Battle’s Over A Nation’s tribute remembers them one and all
Be proud and stand united, don’t let your memories fall
Confidence is what we need so that Nations trust each other
And all the Races of mankind treat each other as a brother
Food for every living thing by nature is provided
If we could only see it was equally divided
The woods and streams, the mountains high, the sea and golden shore
Were never ever meant to be the cause of senseless bloody war
Or race for powerful armaments and sacrifice of youth
But a World of true contentment built on Faith and Trust and Truth
Peace to the World
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
